Bartók-Pásztory Prize for Ilona Tokody, Ádám Friedrich, Zsolt Serei, Miklós Sugár and the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra

Traditionally granted on 25th March, Béla Bartók’s birthday, this year the Bartók-Pásztory Prize was given to opera singer Ilona Tokody, horn player Ádám Friedrich, composers Zsolt Serei and Miklós Sugár, and the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra. The initiative for this Prize came from Béla Bartók’s widow, Ditta Pásztory twenty-six years ago. The Prize was handed over to the artists during a ceremony by President of the Bartók Béla – Pásztory Ditta Advisory Board and Rector of the Liszt Academy of Music, Dr. András Batta.

...a country (Hungary) whose population, even today, is barely over ten million has produced so many musicians and so much outstanding music. I am grateful for having been born and trained there. (Sir Georg Solti)
